A BeMORE group donated £ to United World Schools
Working with the group has been (and continues to be) incredibly rewarding and inspiring. They have all shown such enthusiasm and passion for understanding and supporting our work. The lockdown restrictions have, of course, meant that we have only met via zoom, but this has been very easy to organise and has meant that we have all been very flexible and able meet more regularly, resulting in a much closer relationship. It has also meant that I have been able to bring in members of our In-Country teams from Nepal so they can meet them face to face (zoom to zoom!). This really helps bring our work to life for the group and I have enjoyed sharing these experiences with them. They have each shown an absolute commitment to making the BeMORE initiative a success and, beyond that, to continue to support UWS on an ongoing basis.
The group are knowledge seekers and they really enjoy hearing the detail of our work and the impact that it has in all three countries that we serve. They were also incredibly enlightened when it came to wanting their donation to have the greatest impact with regards to the real needs of our organisation. This has meant that they have each generously donated (amongst other activities) and their donations have all been unrestricted, so we are able to spend the funds where we have the greatest need.
Securing these types of funds is the most valuable way they could have given, and it means a great deal to us that they trust us to use these funds in the most impactful way. They are also going to be supporting our first ever UK Aid Match appeal by organising their own sponsored hike as part of our 180 Challenge. All of the funds raised in this way will then be matched by the UK Government.
Our vision at UWS is that all children deserve the chance to go to school. We work in hard-to-reach areas to give every child access to quality, inclusive education. We partner with local communities and supporters around the world to teach the unreached. Our mission is to improve, through education, life opportunities for some of the world's poorest children living in remote and marginalised communities. The funds that the BeMORE Group have donated and raised will support at least 100 children to receive a life-changing education for one year.
